½-1 sliced jalapeño pepper (remove seeds), plus one for garnish
¼ cup of Grand Marnier
½ cup of fresh lime juice, plus a lime for garnish
¼ cup of orange juice
A splash of sparkling water
Course salt for garnish (optional)
Instructions
Pour the tequila into a pitcher. Add the sliced jalapeños to the pitcher and let sit for 15-30 minutes. The amount of jalapeños will depend on how hot the peppers are (I find that all are a little different in terms of their kick). The longer they sit in the tequila the stronger the spice.
Make the margaritas by adding the Grand Marnier, lime juice, and orange juice to the infused tequila.
Add a splash of sparkling water. This is to slightly diffuse the margarita mix. Add a little at a time and find the strength that you prefer.
Garnish your cups with salt (if you wish) and a lime.
Notes
I found that about 4 squeezed limes gave me about ½ a cup of fresh lime juice, but it all depends on the size of the limes and how ripe they are. Find the biggest and softest limes that you can get your hands on and you're in business!
